Shibari
Originating in Japan, and translating as ‘to bind’, Shibari is a form of rope bondage that may involve elaborate knots and intricate patterns. It may also involve just one rope, between two people. Shibari is very much focused on the connection during the tie, rather than to purposeful restraint.
My learning of Shibari began in 2010 and led Me to Japan on multiple occasions for intense one on tuition. I studied at both Studio Six under Osada Steve, and also at Yukimura Ryu under the late Yukimura Haruki.
As an accomplished rope practitioner both in and out of the dungeon I am experienced in Tsuri (suspension), Se me nawa (torture rope), Newaza (floor techniques) and Kaziri-nawa (decorative tying). I see Shibari not only as bondage, but also as a beautiful art form that differs to most dungeon styles.
It is an acquired taste that you should sample once at least.
